How Original works
Original is a launchpad on pump.fun. The first coin of an idea is the original, and for 30 minutes every copy of that idea is paired with it instead of with SOL.
The original
When a coin is launched, its ticker, name, picture and one line about the idea are compared with every original whose lock is still running. If nothing matches, the coin is an original. Its creator picks two things:
- The pair. SOL, or one of 111 stocks that pump.fun accepts as a pair, such as SpaceX, Tesla or NVIDIA. With a stock, a buyer of the coin buys the stock first.
- Where the creator fee goes. To the holders of the coin, paid in what the coin is paired with (SOL, or that stock), or straight to the creator's own wallet through pump.fun's fee sharing.
A copy
A coin with the same ticker, name, picture or idea as a locked original is a copy. Its creator sees the original, its contract address and the route before paying. If they launch it anyway, the copy is paired with the original. A copy has no pair or fee choice of its own, and pump.fun gives a coin paired with another pump coin no creator fee.
The route of a buy
A copy trades against the original on its curve. A buy of the copy is first a buy of the original:
Every copy of an idea launched in its 30 minutes adds to the same original, so people can pick another version and the volume still goes into the first one. The coin page on Original builds this route in one transaction where it can, and in two when a stock is on the way.
The lock
An original holds its idea from the moment it is launched until 30 minutes after it is created. When the lock ends, the idea is open and the next coin of it is a new original. Copies stay paired with their original for good, since the pair is written into the coin on pump.fun.
Block zero
Every coin is created by Original's own wallet at a random second, 1 to 5 seconds after the creator's SOL lands. Nobody knows the second in advance, so nobody can bundle the first block. The creator's dev buy, at most 1 SOL, goes to the wallet that paid for the launch.
